Christmas For Our Special Little VIP’s

Here at Rockingham Forest Park, we are just as excited as our  special little VIP guests and have all spent the year being good so that we are on Santa’s good list and not the naughty list.

This year we have managed to speak to the big man himself and obtained one of his special post boxes.

Our special little VIP guests are able to send him a letter that will be magically deported to the desk of Santa.  Letters can be done prior to check in and posted in the letter box on the day of check in (recommended to those who are arriving on a Friday) or whilst at the park if you are here Monday to Thursday when reception is open.

We will ensure our special little VIP guests have their reply from the desk of Santa on the day of your departure waiting for them in reception. (If you would like these before then please let reception know prior to check out)

As we are a Green Park, we are also asking our little VIP’s to let Santa know what their family’s Green Pledge is for 2023. We do as much as we can to ensure we reduce our carbon footprint.  Here are some of our initiatives that we will be writing about next year.

All customers want luxury, however today’s consumer does not want the luxury of the old, where there are no consequences.  Luxury will never go out of fashion it will always be desired, and that is why today’s luxury needs to be sustainable.  When we go green not only is it good for the environment, but it also helps reduce costs for the business. We have recycle bins and we even one for batteries and electrical equipment.

We used to provide slippers for all our hot tub guests and soon realised not all guests use them, we therefore started to look into the ethics of disposable slippers and whether or not we should go for washable ones. Having COVID in the back of our mind we ruled out reusable ones and once all stock has been used, we will not provide slippers and update our website advising of this in our effort to be conscious of our environment.

Here at Rockingham Forest Park we are very lucky as we surrounded by woodland, which is great but does come with its own natural waste – old and dead trees.  Our maintenance team are very talented and have created some great woodland walks, using dead trunks as the outline for the woodchip walks and the woodchip itself.  Along these walks you may come across a funny shaped table or chair, and if you look closely you will see our talented team have recycled the trees and customised the dead wood into something you can perch on and have a sandwich or just enjoy the peace.

We have two bug hotels on site for our resident wildlife.  We have a veggie and herb patch that guests can help themselves to free of charge.  This year we harvested three large pumpkins we are hoping to grow this offer next year.

Finally, to help reduce our carbon footprint, we always use local suppliers and if there is not a local supplier in the area we will go out to the next county.  Which for us can mean Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire, or Leicestershire.

FUN FACT 😉

🍂       The lodges are a mile from reception.

🍂       When a guest checks in they are in Cambridgeshire and when they settle into their               lovely lodge they are in Northamptonshire
