A Monday in the life of a Maintenance Manager

I usually get into work at about 7 am. The first job is to turn the heating on, as I like it nice and warm. Then, I’ll make a coffee, check my emails, and update the progress report sheets.

Mondays and Fridays are the busiest days as it’s check in day for the guests.

My first job is to check the spreadsheet, just to make sure there are no late bookings.

The team are starting to arrive now, and  I usually have a coffee with them to see what they have been up to over the weekend.

They are all set up now and are off to start their day’s jobs.

The first guests are starting to check out now. Sometimes they will let reception know that they had an issue with their lodge, for example, dishwasher not working properly, light bulb out, so reception will let us know of any issues on our chat group.

While the team are doing the day’s jobs, I will, for example, source new parts, order consumables, as well as helping out and managing the general maintenance .

I will also arrange some training for Josh, our maintenance apprentice, for example,  electrical testing board, plumbing and how to use various tools in a safe manner.

On a weekly basis I will drive around the site to check for fallen trees, broken fences, hedges that need trimming.  Occasionally, we have to rescue animals that are stuck in the fences.
